Unusual problem with running moo2 under XP

I have a pretty old PC with newly installed Windows XP.
When I try running my old favourite MOO2, at first it looks like everything is ok, but when the game should ask me to type in my name, this window doesn't pop up. When i press the right mouse button, the reaction is absolutely normal, just as if everything was fine - I see there was a type-in window just below the newly popped window.
But after I remove the new one, the old one disappears too.
I can just press enter and go to the game, of course, but in the game the same problem occurs. Some windows simply are not visible until I press the button, which makes the game virtually impossible to play.
I do have SP2 and tried LordBrazen's solutions, but none of them worked for me.
Has anyone encountered this problem and know of any solution?

PS: Sorry for my poor english.

Never heard about such problems.

What Videocard do u use ?

Maybe u should download some other driver. If possible, change whole Videocard.

My hardware has it's time, it's true, but however a great game Moo2 is, I'm not going to buy a new graphic card just for one game.
My graphic card is: SIS 5598/6326 (at least it says so in device manager)

Use "Virtual PC" or "VMware Workstation", you will not have any problems under any operating system or hardware.

I recommend for MoO2 to emulate a DOS under "VMware Workstation".
