Creative strategy

Postby Matthew » Wed Jan 31, 2007 9:46 pm

Lately, I've been trying out a new quick-pop creative strategy where you try to leverage having both cloning and soil with the aquatic pop modifier. It works ok but it is a bit slow at first. The key seems to be finding enough wet planets to hold the population until you are ready to expand.

So the race pick is.

Unification
Aquatic
Large HW
Creative
-Ship Defense
-Ground Combat
-Repulsive

You need rlabs and auto-factories ASAP. Don't bother with building colony bases for low-pop, toxic, radiated, etc.

In the early game, build cloning facilities only on your housing planets and do Soil enrichment only on your food planets. It would waste too much time to build soil where you aren't farming and clones where you aren't doing housing.

You want to maximize expansion and use of your first colony ship.

I posted an expanded version on my blog.

thats funny :D thats exactly the race, i even testing.

my gained experiences with this race
(Uni+Aqua+Creativ) are pretty good.

of course, i first tech the standart tech-tree: RL -> AutoF.
after that, i straight to delve Bio/Hydro. Farm -> ClonC/Soil

I build a Soil Ent. on my HP and Cloning C.
on the Housing-Planets in my HWS.
(i build a AutoF. and RL on every Housing-Planet first)

the growth of population was gone on fast.
i guess, the pops were growing faster, than at a prod race Housing-Planet.
really, in the early game, you have a time lag, because of the techs you need. but after you have researched Soil/ClonC and SuperC - nothing can stop your creativ race - with a littlebit fortune^^

than i going to research Z. Armor or c3s. - the rest is dependent on situation
(War or Development Tech-Tree)
(Sorry for my english, My vocabulary is narrow :D )

"Im gone sending to outer Space ... to find another Race"
and never forget! Soylent Green is people!

Isnt Science (6) with Artifacts (3) better than creative and Large Home World for a Balanced race?

Also, instead of picking Repulsive (-6), you could try Farming (-3) and Spying (-3)... that is if you dont want any wars early on (against AI)?

Just some thoughts / ideas..... feel free to critisize!

That would probably work ok as a research race. The idea was to try to find a good way to use the creative trait without sacrificing too much.
