Say you are playing UniAquaProd and your opponent is playing UniAquaWarlord. Around turn 60 you see that your opponent has built a string of outpost to your nearest colony and has a large fleet of DDs.

What can you do?

uniaqua +2prod can get a fully functional laser bb out by turn 60, so it shouldnt be a prob, if you get blitzed before t60 then you got a problem.

and even then it all depends on map settings, in large map its hard to blitz that early, in medium its very simple. also depends on race, you got siron's tele-transd race, he'll be at your homeworld by turn 40.

one thing what you can always do?
is take battle path and build a bb first thing by turn 60-70 before doing any expansion. you could also take out monsters this way using bb.
by time its turn 90 or something, it shouldnt take more than 5-10 turns to get supers because of increased pop.

all depends on map, players, and if theres a wh around you or not.

and one thing you can always do? is be the blitzer yourself and go take over someone else as early as possible instead.
