What do u think is the best weapon tactic ?
I've often seen the Class three shield with modified mass driver combo perform well. I prefer to use this setup myself too. However, I usually cannot justify that tech path.
I really believe the strongest of the listed setups is Zortium armor with MIRV merculite missiles. I've used it, and we've seen you use it well, too .

C3/MD is ok only with +att (combined with warlord) races or with good comp because it hit poorly (-20 with ap mod) . So you decide which tech path you'll follow at the race screen. And there are many many designs and each is good in certain situation. The most important is to scan enemy ships (fast scout) and then you design anti fleet.
Information about others techs and ship designs r very important, as cab said.
Zort + Merc + WD will usally beat a CIII/MD one but it takes much more time to research such techs. But all in all it depends on other factors too ... !
So an ultimative way is not possible ... u always need to react on the current situation ... !

So, what's the anti-fleet to a horde of +so warlord C3 armor-piercing DDs? They shoot down your missles and pick off ships without heavy armor. With high beam defense and the ability to retreat in discreet numbers (unlike BBs where one retreat is four command points), these guys are annoyingly resiliant and deadly.

Zort mercs maybe, but you'd need Warp Dissapater and an overwhelming amount of missles to keep him from sniping just enough missles and/or running away. The production and command points required to match this strategy aren't very favorable.
Fast missle racks might help. Plus, you've got to make your WD ship very resiliant too, because his high beam offense can even snipe a nimble FF or DD at a distance.
As for Brent's counter... that requires a restart!

High Beam Defense!, the pick, or Transd, or Warlord with Space Acad. Aug. Eng.
Heavy Armor and Reinforced Hull, c3 or better for your ships, armor on your missiles. A BB with the above, and as many of your best missiles as you can get on it.

MOO1 Fan, MOO2 Fan, MOO3 needed too many changes = hopeless, getting older waiting for a MOO4 (still).
