Router Trouble When Hosting

Postby Anjin » Sat Jun 13, 2009 4:16 pm

So I can't figure out how to host games. I've followed all the basic DosBox and 1.40 patch instructions. I can connect to other people's games, but I can't host. Does anyone know how to configure Linksys routers to get game hosting working? I'm one of three computers on my network, behind a router. I set up a static IP for my machine, with the proper subnet mask and DNS address, and forwarded 213 UDP to it in the router setup. I turned off my Windows XP Firewall. I then changed my dosbox.conf to have the line ipxnet startserver, removing the ipxnet connect line. Still no luck. Aynone have an insight?

Forward a certain port on your router, such as 5678, and then try starting the server with that specific port number for them to connect to, like this: "ipxnet startserver 5678". Then they will have to have "ipxnet connect (IP address here) 5678" in their dosbox config file. That is what did it for me.
Vita multis dat nimis, satis nulli.
