Dosbox and lan games

I can't get my dosbox to connect to one another. I get it loaded up fine, but when I start up the other dosbox for a LAN game it can't connect to mine. I haven't quite figured out port forwarding as was mentioned on the dosbox guide. Would really look forward to playing a game with you all. Been playing since 1996.
