MoO2: Does AP help with missiles?

MoO2: Does AP help with missiles?

Armoured missiles say it doubles hitpoints, but are those armour points it adds? If not then I shouldn't bother with point defence AP weapons.

Ap doesn't help with missiles. But sometimes it's useful when shooting at point blank at high beam defense ships without shield.
