Brown stars

Has anybody actually ever discovered the secret behind those? I mean, the text suggests there's more to them but their colour

I think they simply have a greater chance of having a special, than the other stars.
Sometimes a leader, pirates cache, debris, etc.

hm, booooring.
I always imagined there might be some secret. Using them as custom wormholes...finding a secret planet...etc.
Similar to a black hole.

I guess I expected too much

You can download a PDF copy of the official Instruction Manual at Bladrov's Palace.

Chapter 5: Star Systems, Star Color section, Pg. 46-47:
"Brown dwarves are barely stars. These dim, cold suns have either burnt out almost all of their nuclear fuel or just never had the resources to shine in the first place. No planets orbit these extremely rare stars, but they're more likely than other systems to have a system special."
I reinstalled the other day and it just so happens that my home star is a brown dwarf with two planets. I don't remember if that's rare. The star doesn't seem to have imparted any system specials.

Yeah, isn't it great how, it contridicts itself.
"No planets orbit these extremely rare stars"
