I was wondering what everyone's opinion was of Lost Empire?
released June 14, 2007, works on WinXP
It featured 7 major races (or create your own), 45 minor races, a huge tech tree, 3D-battles, a very large galaxy with 5000 solar systems.
Design your ships.
Use spys.
Multiplayer games over the internet.
The newest similarity to MOO2, I could find.
A follow up on this title called Lost Empire Immortals, a revamped version of the game, is to be released March 11th or 15th, 2008.
There are eight hull types in the game, ranging from scout and patrol craft to lumbering battleships and stationary (save for one race) starbases.
The kicker is that all leaders will eventually age and die, so you've got to use them wisely. Because a turn equals one year, a human leader may stick around for only about 50 turns, but some alien races live much longer, and their leaders can survive for hundreds of turns.

Lost Empire
MOO1 Fan, MOO2 Fan, MOO3 needed too many changes = hopeless, getting older waiting for a MOO4 (still).
I bought it.
Just a warning, It crashes under Windows Vista 64 bit, with DirectX10.
There are several complaints at their website forums, and a patch (1.02) that doesn't fix it.
From what I have read, It is better than a astrowars.com type game. Where there is race creation too, but, no ship combat control.
I had to invest in a game where people are actually trying to improve the genre I like (4X, space, turn based), and I skipped on Sins of a Solar Empire.

lost
got it recently... got bored, don't think the AI empires move around much. I did appreciate the "vastness" of the galaxy for what its worth.
