broken wormhole - other end out or range

Was playing super diplomatically.. Made an alliance.. Used the alliance to get extra range on my ships to explore.. I explored a system which had a wormhole.. The other side of the wormhole is unexplored and out of range.. And I can't jump into it!
(it's 20 parsecs out measured from my systems according to the red text. Id estimate less than 13 from allied Territory. i don't really think this matters besides to say that neither me or my allies can reach that systems in the corner)
