The Orion Nebula

Hi all am fairly new to MoO2 and have been playing it on my friends laptop. I managed to get myself a copy and it loads up alright I can play a game but all of a sudden it closes down with this message 'lost invalid rect'. anyone know what this means? am running it on Vista and would like to play multiplayer by linking computers. my friends run the windows version, will I need to run the windows version as well?
