Problem playing game past race selection screen on Vista

Alrighty, I followed the instructions in the blog, (very helpful I might add), but when I choose a race, the game crashes, telling me that 'Remapped picture must have a palette'. Anybody know what I need to do to fix this? I'm dying to play this game, but it's been fighting me all day.
