Scoring not working

Postby rox1979 » Sat Aug 04, 2007 10:18 pm

I've won a game by conquering the antarans and it shows the little graphic thing and never tells me my score. I thought perhaps the score was lower than I thought, but even after I cleared all the scores, re-loaded the saved game and won again it still doesn't show anything. Anyone got any ideas?
I'm using V1.40b22

We observed this earlier. Not sure if this was fixed in b23. See this thread for example:

Yeah, no score for me too but I think only when I win by Council Vote. I have seen the final score and I believe those games were won by total conquest or defeating Antares.

I'm not using DOSbox so it seems to be a 1.4 issue.

Heh, recently won a game with simultaneous Council Vote and Antares Defeat - got the points for both!

Thanks for giving me that link Siron. Loaded up the 95 version and got my score :-)

I too am not getting a score from any victory type, with 1.40b23 and XP.

EDIT: I just did a Diplovictory and got a score, but haven't gotten one from Conquest or Antares.
Why do they get to attack me without war being declared, but I can't do the same?

Seems somewhat random

I got one high score on a diplo victory out of about 10 games in the last couple of weeks; I've had it not work on all victory types, with and without any custom switches beyond /skipintro.

I'm running the 1.4 executable directly from a shortcut in WinXP Pro; XP is correctly spawning a command prompt which stays open and inactive after the program exits. This is the only significant problem I"m having in this configuration, which is why I've not gone to the extra trouble of running in DOSbox.

Eureka!

I think I have figured it out reproducibly.

When you are getting the final animation, with the glowing balls coming up over the chair, if you wait until the voice starts playing before clicking you will get the high score logic. If you click before that (presumably while the sound file is being loaded up) you won't.
