MOO2 under Vista

I've been trying to get Moo2 to work under Vista, so far I have no luck. First, the game required a DLL file, which I downloaded and placed in c:\windows\system. When I tried to start the game, I was confronted with the message "Orion95.exe has stopped working" etc etc. I attempted to run it in DOSbox, got the Simtex logo, then got the following message: ", Network [entry 1] could not be found." The comma at the beginning isn't a typo, that's what was there.

Any help?

Hmm. I heard that message before but dont recall the issue.

You tried the steps as they are mentioned in the dosbox guide?

IIRC that was caused by some exe 1.31 patch?! Did you use an exe patch? This message shouldnt happen with the recommended zip patch in the guide.

No, I used the .zip one.

Sorry,
I heard the problem before, but we couldnt find a solution. But try to contact the other player. Maybe you could figure out similarities in your hardware.

Has anyone been able to use MOO2 in a single player mode in MS Vista? If so, how? Thanks for the help.

I'm afraid not. I just got a new laptop with vista home premuim, and cant get MOO2 to run on it for love nor money. I get the same error messages that other people seem to be getting eg: 'Orion95.exe has stopped working' but cant seem to fix it. The only thing I've not tried is the DOSBOX guide (compatibility wizard doesnt work), but I dont know or understand enough to use the guide. Could anyone on here explain it to me in easy to grasp terms?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - must have my MOO2 fix!!! :?
