Using Dosbox unable to get multiplayer

Postby Peacemaker » Sat Sep 30, 2006 2:50 pm

Using the ipxnet connect function in the dosbox.conf file it starts fine but unable to see the host computer when trying to start a multiplayer game
Also when trying to manualy type the ipxnet connect command it gives an error that it could not connect to the ip even though no error was given when the dosbox application was opened.
On the host pc the ipxnet status only shows 1 connection from 127.0.0.1
If the connection is working should it be showing the ip address from my client pc?

It sounds like a firewall problem.

On the HOST computer you will need to open a port on the firewall. If you have a router you will need to forward inbound traffic on that port to the HOST computer.

On the HOST computer you use:

Code: Select all

ipxnet startserver <port> (where port is the port to listen on).
On all client computers you use:

Code: Select all

ipxnet connect x.x.x.x <port> (where x.x.x.x is the hosts IP address and <port> is the port it is listening on)

Yes it would show 2 connections and 1 of them would be your client PC.
