xp installation problem

Hi
I can't install moo2 in my xp pro pc. I copied the rkernel.com file but not sure what to to after that. Sorry if this redundant but I tried for a couple of hrs to install this.
I copied the cd files to program files\mps\microprose\orion2
I tried clicking on setup and rkernel.com. nothing happens with setup but rkernel.com brings up an error message: the NTVDM cpu has encountered an illegal instruction.

any help would be appreciated. thanks. duane

You don't have "to run" the rkernel.com file. That file is just needed when you patch with 1.4b23.

You can't run "setup.exe" or "install.exe" from the cd?
