DOS MoO2 doesnt start

Postby ALEX|D » Mon Jan 09, 2006 7:10 am

As I installd AGP drivers for my AsRock Mainboard
http://www.asrock.com/product/product_k7s8x.htm
the perfomence of Quake 4 increased much.

But now, when I start MoO2 I get a black screen and nothing happens further. ALT-TAB out -.- !
I uninstalld the AGP drivers but the problem was still there.
The only way to get MoO2 runnin is to install Win XP again :/, and u should never install the agp drivers ... !

The best thing is, when I reboot my system I am able to run moo2 in dos, as long as win xp is in progress to boot. After Boot progress is finished and I go back to the moo2 (ALT-TAB) the game is frozen ... !

Now I orderd a new Mainboard in hope it will run with dos moo2.

After a lot of work I finished the alteration successfully :D !

Next time I would buy a new PC instead of changing whole mainboard ... !

yea baby yea ... !

I had now another problem (I´m just cursed :? ).

Every time I started the moo2 dos version, nothin happen, no error msg  !

I had all data saved, cos I changed my mainboard 1 day ago -.- !

After the new installation, I tryd to run it, unsuccessfull, but now with error msg :D !

bla ... fonts.lbx ... !

I saved my gamesaves and overwrote all data form another moo2 backup I had. Then I installd latest patch b21 and moo2 runs :D !

I hope I ll be spared from such problems :? !!!

hmm seems I was wrong about only "fonts.lbx" was the problem ... I guess it just a consequence of it.

Now I made all (40 or so) windows updates again, and I got the same problem, but this time I got a systemrecoverypoint just before these updates. So I could put my system back to the lastet point moo2 runs.

I´ll never update this machine again :? !

Yes, I am experiencing the same dilemma. Whenever I run Windows update I lose my ability to play on Kali :( . While IIRC my problem was slightly different, I am forced to either not run Windows updates, or completely reinstall Master of Orion on my PC every time I do.

Haa Haa that is hysterical! I never have a problem with running MOOII and I get updated every 24 hours! Haa Haa Haa!

*Smiles smugly*

You guys are running Service Pack 2 right?

Also make sure the exe has protected memory.

I run SP1a ... and I will never go to any other SP ... !

Atm moo2 runs and everything else too, so I dont see any need to update my system.

Yes. Oddly enough SP2 and windows update changed my memory settings for MOO too :? . I don't know what to make of it, even after correcting the changes that were noticed, I still could not get MOO to run. After about three hours, I chose to do a complete reinstall.

XP sometimes blocks programs from running. You might be able to get it working by messing around with control panel.
