Max Score? and Does Difficulty matter in Score?

I was in the CivFanatics forum, in their MOO section, and someone asked if there is a max score in MOO2?

Some have scores in the 29-30k range, but, does anyone know if there is a limit?
Also, it appears that difficulty does not matter for score purposes.
