What mods do you recommend?

Just got Lord Brazen's 1.40.23 installed with VDMS to eliminatethe DOS sound troubles.
It appears that the DD, DC, and DR mods are mutually incompatible. Anyone know if that is right?
c'g~ has something called EXPa 2.1 Pro whose description looks interesting, but rapidshare's download site isn;t working--you have to type 6-7 characters into an 'access code' box but the box only accepts 4. Anyone know another place where this file can be obtained?
More broadly, I'd be grateful for suggestions on the modst interesting/replayable mods anyone recommends.
