Hey, sorry if im starting a new topic on the same thing. I have seen mods cfor changing the cost, etc. of techs. But is it possible to simply stop being able to research at a certain level?

If possible please reply with full details, im new to modding!

Not certain if stopping is in the code, but, if you were to make it 1,000,000,000 research points to the next level, it would effectively do that.

There should be the editor you are looking for on Lord Brazens Blog.
http://lordbrazen.blogspot.com/2005/01/download.html

OCL v0.21 - LBX and game exe editor. For use with both DOS and Win version 1.31.
OCLplus v0.3 - LBX and game exe editor. For use with DOS version 1.40 only.

I believe one of these will do that.

MOO1 Fan, MOO2 Fan, MOO3 needed too many changes = hopeless, getting older waiting for a MOO4 (still).

Hi, wuffsaur.

If U still interested…
U need to use a program, called Total Commander (sort of FAR clone) or FAR itself, of course (as for me I’m using Total Commander).
So, then copy ocl_v021.exe to directory, which containing MoO2. Then, click one time with left mouse button on part of window of Total Commander, which containing MoO2. Further goes most complicated stuff: Total Commander have so called command line (u can find it in lower left part of Total Commander window). U just need to type this in command line:
ocl_v021.exe -e zomg.txt
After that, U will find a zomg.TXT file in directory with MoO2 – this file is what U need for modification of MoO2 (for more info read TXT with ocl editor).
When U will finish Ur moding just repeat the same what I tell U earlier, but type this:
ocl_v021.exe zomg.txt

Good Luck

I know this is bringing an old thread back from the dead, but I wanted to let anyone know who has tried this, it works perfectly. I even changed the beginning techs to 51 rp to see if it actually worked and it did. Thank you.
