The Orion Nebula

Is there a way to make and load custom images for ships, and would i need any special programs to do it? Ive played this game for a while but looking at the same designs for so long gets abit boring and im hoping to find a way to make my own designs.

There was a mod project to implement Star Trek Designs. But the project disappeared and they provided no tool to implement your own designs. Grig de Griz said he will work on such a tool in the next months.
