I took about 4 or 5 days and finished a game of Evo 1.4 on hard difficulty. It was a lot of fun and i'm going to start another game now. I like the weapon changes and rearrangement of the tech tree and race picks.
I used proton torpedos with neutron blasters on large fleets of battleships to conquer the last three races. The torpedos are good for bombing planets during tactical battle, though I haven't tried conventional bombs with or without transporters during the tactical battle to see if that design would work well too. The reflection fields were fun to use but during my particular game they didn't hurt other empires much because of their few ion cannons. I think they helped with antaran attacks though so I was glad to see them available earlier in the game. Subspace communications gave me a whole lot of command points toward the end of the game, and I wasn't a warlord race. Maybe the tech was always that way, I don't remember enough from the original moo2 game.
