By the way, welcome Crassas to the forum. And don't worry, most of us don't get to that 200+ pop he mentioned earlier. Since, most of my games have been for the fun of it, not competition, I only occasionally rise over 100 pop/turn 100. Personally, I think that pop startegy ruins the "spirit" of the...

I agree. A seperate forum Heading would have to be created (Let's say, entitled "MOO2 Remakes"), such as the, " Master of Orion II Multiplayer Games " already created, because, others would come up with other versions, it would be best to set this up right to begin with. Under that heading would be ...

Exactly. Some have claimed to be remake MOO2, (freeorion has a similar name, but is not MOO2) but, instead alter it so much, or remove parts completely, that it becomes unrecognizable, . I would encourage any reproduction, as best as possible, to the original MOO2 first. Then, one could worry about ...

I went to that link, but, there doesn't seem to be info on further updates. If more have occurred, and there is a current working version, it would be great to see some news on this front. I found another forum topic on the new MOO1 topic. http://p066.ezboard.com/fmoo1plusfrm2.showMessage?topicID=63...

Or like Void Stalker had suggested here, this forum could be used with seperate sections for each part needing to be designed. If ok by Lord Brazen. I am sure you will find people here with knowledge and experience of MOO2. With ideas of what changes they would like to see if MOO2 were redisigned. M...

Greetings Istrebitel, It looks like you have thought some of the basic mechanics through. Perhaps, you and some others can work out the details in your spare time and keep us posted on any sucesses you make. I have read elsewhere where others have have tried to come up with their new version of a MO...

Any newly conquered race won't "become" your race picks. You can transfer one of your Aquatic, Subterranean or Tolerant people to a newly conquered planet and that planet will be able to grow upto the new limit of that pop. The original pop can only grow upto the original max limit, the rest will be...

Many of the comments you will find here won't include Telepathic as a positive choice, usually, because of the points being wasted, could be better used toward other choices. However, in single player matches, my friend and I agree, probably, the best choice is: Unification, Aquatic, Telepathic, Pro...

Re: Galactic Election In Multiplayer?
When playing in Multiplayer, I never have the galactic elections. Are they turned off in multiplayer? Also, when I went to destroy the Antareans, and won, it just came back and let me continue with my current game. Do win scenarios change in multiplayer? If they do, what are the ways to win? Only c...

Hi Cugel, I re-checked out that link, and alot of those suggestions had to be from when the game just came out, because, many of their race choices are just not that great, at least not for multi-player games. I saw dictatorship races, along with feudal and cybernetic races, and most competitive pla...

MOO2 and Windows 7
I installed MOO2 on my niece's laptop today in the same manner one would normally install it, with no problems. So, it installs smoothly. Just to be clear, it was the Windows version too. Trying to explain what to do, to get it to work, to someone who was 1 yr. old when this game came out, and has n...

Ranking scores in a commonly recognizable place, for those interested, sounds like a good idea. I looked up Elo scoring vs. other scoring methods, which vary by game and country, and found other systems that you might want to look at, and see the reasons for the changes made to an Elo base, before d...
And Space Acadamy's DO affect Troop Transports both for starting exp as well and exp gained per turn! Good to know. This would explain why the comps in single player games always build 6 trans early and pay the maintenance upkeep (or use cmd pt slots). I guess, we can add this to the list of minor ...
More good info. Thanks! Something you said got me thinking, "Also of note, Infantry & Militia on Planets do NOT gain experience (from my testing) but my Troops sitting around in their tin can transports DO gain experience!! ". I found this in the manual.pdf file in Chapter 8: All troops, both ground...
