Blitzing the AI is easy, so the host should setup for no AI players in the game. Galaxy size and starting tech level can affect the viability of blitzing. You can see if a player is starting a blitz if you are Omni, so use PickHack to make Omni free. Race picks are normally visible to everyone, and ...

Of the many games I have owned, I always return to playing two: Master of Orion 2, and Brian Reynold's Alpha Centauri. Why? The thrill of exploring a new map, encountering emergent threats, strategic planning, weapon systems design, the leisure of turn-based play and saved games, and unlimited repla...

Teukros, I do recall that there was a discussion on the (frankly bizarre) diplomatic marriage concept. Unfortunately I didn't manage to capture every article before the Antares site was closed. (I also ran out of time to collect the site's graphics.) Under what name did you post on Antares? Best wis...

My experience with Spy+20 Tele is only in SP, but I noticed how easy it was to sabotage and steal techs from the Darloks as well as all the other races. With these picks, successful spy actions are so frequent (every turn) that the random probability must be about 99 +- 1 %. There is no way to avoid...

When I was more practised than I am now, I beefed up all the AI races using Melting Pot. In one Impossible game, the Darloks came at me with 36 well-chosen positive picks. Suffice to say, I was not used to losing to the AI no matter how strong their picks are, but those guys overmatched me. Against ...

Torin, I understand your desire to protect orbital platforms from easy capture. However, the AI is very effective at using the boarding techs (esp. Transporters and Neutron Blasters). Omitting those would repeat one of MOO3's egregious errors. About carrier defence: with OCL you can change the Fight...

Doncaster, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The map indicates a concentration of MOO2/Orion Nebula fans in Alice Springs, and that in Indonesia the game and website are followed in Jakarta, and are especially popular in southwest Sulawesi.
