@Ist: Based on what you've described for your game engine, I'd encourage you to actually take a step further backwards. Instead of working on the engine, first get the model in place to describe the game's internal state and the actions that affect that model/state. The basic algorithm of the game, ...

There are a lot of good ideas and interesting replies to this thread. (Although it certainly wandered off course a bit. :D) Regarding creating a MOO2 clone, remember that the formats of the graphics, sounds, and resources of the game are known. And any MOO2 fan already has them. Any MOO2 clone would...

Bad news about Atari, for sure. But consider the question purely as an academic exercise anyway. I'm not a game developer, though it turns out that I am a software engineer by profession. I've always had an armchair interest in game design, game rules, and so forth, particularly when the games are d...

Hypothetical Question (Next-Generation MOO2)
[Long time lurker, first time poster.] Just wanted to throw out a question and get some input. Let's suppose that someone was going to develop a MOO2 sequel that was going to stay true to the gameplay of MOO2 rather than going the route that MOO3 did. There are a handful of small and medium sized im...
