Is there a MOO wiki?
Is there a Master Of Orion wiki alive somewhere? I was just in the mood to browse a bit through all the possible strategies. There is masteroforion wikia com, which doesn't really have any content. Given my recent experience with Wikia , that's a Good Thing (TM). The FreeOrion wiki doesn't seem to c...

Hello again after a long, long time
Seeing Master of Orion 2 still thrive after all those years feels a bit like coming home. Keep up the great work! I still remember playing days at a stretch. Perhaps fortunately, technical issues kept me out of multiplayer. Gaming became too much of a time sink, and I threw out my computers entirely...

I used Qemu (http://www.kju-app.org/) and Windows95b-DOS inside to run MOO2 at reasonable speeds because at the time Dosbox offered no processor acceleration on the G4. There seems to be a way to network with other Qemu users by forwarding virtual network cards, but I never got the chance to try tha...

I asked on the dosemu forum, it seems a dynamic core for PowerPC (read, Macs except for macbooks) isn't to be seen anytime soon, and connecting qemu with dosbox is deemed somewhat a kruft. So, no networked Orion for mac users, except if they manage to convince windows users to use qemu. http://vogon...

Yes, on my system the problem is speed without dynamic emulation, which is only available on x86 ("common PC") architecture. However, orion2 does play (single player) at reasonable speed inside Q/qemu, and qemu even as an option to connect to qemu on other people's computers. Maybe it would be a lot...

Well, running Win95 and Kali inside Q doesn't work, Kali keeps complaining about failed firewall tests and most of the time can't connect to the chat server. Actually, there are 3 firewalls and 2 router involved: firewall/router at the transition between real and emulated hardware, OS X firewall, ro...

Thank you for your quick reply. I found dosbox for mac and it turned out to be painfully slow (much worse than Q). I haven't yet tested its networking because the Windows NIC driver decided to work on Q (I don't really know why). So I'd prefer to first look into a way to bridge IPX over IP between Q...

Q(emu) and network setup : anyone succeded?
Hi, as I am blessed with a Mac, I have to resort to Q to run Orion2 in Win95b-DOS. Singleplayer works fine if a bit slow on an emulated ~50MHz machine. However, try as I might, I could not get Windows to recognize the network card. Asking on the qemu forum didn't help [1]. qemu on Linux/PPC is also ...

Does it count to your conquered alien population if you give a system away and re-conquer it? Because basically your tradeoff is: Either steamroller everyone right at the beginning, you get a nice time bonus, or conquer a reasonable number of aliens later. In small galaxies, bonus=2*aliens. Another ...
