Hydroponic farms
While Biospheres are strictly superior to Hydroponic Farms in almost all cases, there are times when I end up with the Hydroponic Farm tech anyway (creative, spying, finding artifacts planet, etc). I was wondering if it is generally a good idea to build it at all. The maintainence cost of 2 BC is pr...

Re: unitol, some build stats
another thing i noticed, if youre not tolerant, and you had to make a choice between robos or pol procs, pol procs helps build faster than just robos by itself, robos with pollution makes less prod than autos with pol procs. otherwise robos helps house faster. That's an interesting thing to know, s...

Sacrificing your star base
I noticed in Alex's tutorial that the star base was scrapped first turn. I was wondering if this is common and whether it depends on what race and map settings you are playing (average or pre-warp, large or medium, etc). I'm assuming it does. Getting rid of the star base gives you 200 BC right away ...

option 2 would be alex's queue system except the way it works is: say you have 5 planets in your system, you tech on your main home planet, then you house on 3 planets, and you use 2-4 people quick build marine barracks upto 1 turn left on 5th planet, then quit building and switch to housing, and m...

Re: oops
if you look at his unitol movie, he doesnt only pop, he saves production for rlabs/autos using marine barracks everywhere using queue system. Perhaps watching the tutorial again will clear this up - the first time everything was happening so fast it was hard for me to follow. I'm wondering, if you ...

If I understand what you're asking, I think I use almost exclusively queue build because it seems a lot faster for massing population. My general rule is that if I only have one colonist on a planet, I will do housing (assuming I have built all available production techs like auto factory, robo mine...

On the prewarp setting with a production race (I don't have much experience playing the tech races), I usually go with the following order: Frighters (Build colony bases) Electronic Computer Research Lab (Build research labs on all colonies in the system) Reinforced Hull Automated Factory (Build aut...

good unisub races include: unisub aqua with +1prod or rich/large hw unisub +2prod rich hw there's also: unisub +1food +1prod large With the first one, I never know whether to take +1prod or rich/large hw. Rich/large tends to be a little faster in expanding out of the opening, but with +1prod you ca...

uniaquasub prod1 A bit slow, but a stable race ! Prod1 and not large hw, rich hw? I assume you're picking clones here and not soil enrichment. Any unisub races without aquatic? I don't like picking clones that much because it seems too dependent on finding fairly large wet planets, and sometimes I ...

The math works like this: if a building or ship or whatever is 0% complete, you have to pay 4 BC for every 1 PP you are purchasing. In the case of an AutoFactory, which takes 60 PP to build, you pay 240 BC to just buy it outright. As the percent complete increases, the cost declines. Wow....thanks ...

Is there a normal order for what to build on a newly settled colony? For example, when I first colonize a system in the early game, the only two buildings I'm interested in building on the new colony are automated factory and research lab - and colony bases if there are other planets in the system. ...

Housing technique questions
Hi, I'm new here. I used to play moo2 a lot a few years ago and just started playing again recently. I'm a decent player but I rarely play against humans and I'm sure I would get slaughtered online. I was pleased to find Cybersaber's strategy guide and this forum where people really seem to know wha...
